Choosing an integration

Google Maps API keys and business data exports solve different needs

A Google Maps API key identifies a project using Google Maps Platform services. An Excel file of business search results is a separate output for research. Clarifying that difference helps you choose the correct setup before paying for a service.

What a Maps API key does

Google’s Maps JavaScript API uses an API key to associate requests with a project for authentication and billing. If you are building an application with an interactive Google map, follow the setup instructions for the specific Maps Platform API you intend to use.

The key is not a ready-made business database, a prospect list, or permission to send messages to listed contacts. Its purpose and restrictions depend on the API and project configuration.

Keep your own project under your control

Use Google’s official setup flow when your work requires an API key. Apply the application and API restrictions appropriate to the integration. Review the official documentation rather than assuming a shared key gives you control over usage.

If someone offers a key, ask who owns the project, who pays for usage, which applications can use it, and what happens if access is revoked. A key copied from another site is not a substitute for an account and integration you control.

What SSDATA provides instead

SSDATA is a business discovery and campaign workspace. Customers can run the searches available in their account, review the results, and export Excel files. The subscription does not include the sale or transfer of Google Maps Platform credentials.

If your goal is to download a working list of business search results, follow the Excel guide. If your goal is to embed maps in your own product, use the Google Maps Platform documentation and evaluate the relevant API requirements.

A quick decision checklist

  • Need a prospect spreadsheet? Start with a reviewed business search and an Excel export.
  • Need a map inside an application? Review the Maps Platform API suited to that application.
  • Need ownership and usage control? Keep the project, restrictions, and billing responsibility clear.
  • Need to contact a business? Verify the contact and obtain appropriate messaging permission separately.

Questions before you start

Does SSDATA sell Google Maps API keys?

No. SSDATA currently sells access to its application features, not Google Maps Platform API keys or Google Cloud credentials.

Does an API key include a downloadable list of businesses?

No. A key is a credential for configured API access. A business research export is a different workflow and output.
